The Effects of Environment on Wellness and Health
Health is a condition of mind and physical well-being where infirmity and illness are absent. Some of the earliest definitions of health were created over 2021 years ago. Some of the criteria used to define “health” are absence of ill health, being in good psychological health, ability to perform ordinary daily activities, and one’s body composition. A variety of other definitions have since been used for various purposes over the years. In current times, health is more than just a condition of the body. It also includes a person’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors about being healthy or unhealthy.
People need to have healthy behaviors in order to maintain their physical and mental health. A healthy lifestyle includes a balanced diet, regular exercise, and the use of sound sleepers such as sound machines, televisions, and sleep aids. Healthy behaviors also include communicating with others, maintaining a positive attitude, and taking advantage of the opportunities that arise through sickness or injury. Maintaining a positive attitude means having realistic expectations about one’s health conditions and how those conditions will affect the way one lives. One can have unrealistic expectations about life that can lead to self-destructive behavior patterns that can be harmful to health.
People need to make lifestyle choices that include appropriate intake of food, activities, and rest. The proper diet allows an individual to obtain the nutrients that are needed for health and to keep his or her energy level up. Proper activity levels allow an individual to function properly and to stay active. Daily relaxation time allows people to de-stress, clear their minds, and remove mental strain that can be detrimental to health. All of these components of a healthy lifestyle choice enable an individual to maintain his or her health status through a combination of determinants such as genetics, diet, environment, and physical environment.
There are several determinants of a healthy lifestyle that are outside of personal lifestyle choices. For example, a person who smokes cigarettes or who consumes alcohol may be at increased risk for heart disease, cancer, osteoporosis, and other serious diseases. Other causes of poor physical health include obesity, inactivity, poor nutrition, emotional stress, substance abuse, and other conditions. Drug use is one of the most common causes of poor health because of the negative physical and psychological effects that drug use can have on an individual.
Research has shown that a combination of genetics, environment, and drug use can lead to higher risks of depression, heart disease, and other serious health conditions. In addition, environmental factors play an important role in determining one’s well-being. A person’s social location, physical environment, physical health, and even emotional health can all play an important role in determining one’s well-being. Some of the environmental factors that can affect a person’s well-being include poverty and high crime rates, lack of support from family and friends, as well as a low educational level and a high unemployment rate.
It is important to make changes in order to better health. A healthy lifestyle includes a balanced diet, plenty of exercise, relaxation techniques, stress management, and a good attitude. These lifestyle changes can help you live a longer and healthier life.
