Read Time:2 Minute, 20 Second

Health is a condition where illness and physical infirmity are completely absent. Different definitions have been applied to health since time immemorial. In modern society the condition is used to refer to the total condition of the body, mind and spirit. It is also used in the medical field to measure and identify different conditions. The importance of health can never be undermined or neglected because one of the most important reasons for death is very often due to a lack of good health.

Occupational safety and health problems are a major factor in the increase of the number of premature deaths around the world. In the United States alone there is a huge amount of money that is spent on illness and physical disability payments each year. The main article discussed below briefly discusses the types of illnesses that are considered a health problem.

Depression is a major part of the increasing number of health problems. Millions of people suffer from depression every day without ever being properly diagnosed or treated. According to the National Institute of Mental Health there are many warning signs of depression. These include the inability to concentrate, sleep loss, changes in appetite as well as changes in weight and personality. It is important to seek treatment if you or a loved one is suffering from any of these symptoms.

Another category of illness is that which is related to both the physical and the mental health status of an individual. Some main examples include bipolar disorder, eating disorders as well as drug abuse. The mental health status category includes such issues as schizophrenia as well as depression.

One aspect of public health that has become increasingly recognized is that of emotional health. Emotional well-being is a state in which an individual feels satisfied with their own self-awareness and their relationships. It is associated more with the physical well being of an individual. It includes things like the ability to manage anger, healthy diet, exercising as well as appropriate social interaction. The attainment of these goals leads to a healthy lifestyle, which in turn can lead to other associated behaviors.

Illness and its related illnesses are becoming more widespread within the United States at an alarming rate. Many people are not taking in consideration how to maintain, treat or cope with health problems such as heart disease or diabetes. Health care providers are faced with challenges dealing with these issues on a daily basis. If left undiagnosed or untreated severe illness can have very detrimental effects on the life of an individual. As a result, prevention is becoming an increasingly important factor in the management of illness. Public health professionals are educating the public about the various types of illnesses that can be prevented and dealt with through a healthy lifestyle.
