Read Time:3 Minute, 31 Second

Sunscreen should be part of your skincare regimen all year long; not just during summer vacation. Sunscreen helps protect against sun damage, premature aging and cancerous cells on your face as well as boost other products used on it.

Sunscreen should always be applied daily, even on cloudy days as UV rays penetrate windows and penetrate skin cells. Regular sunscreen application helps prevent dark spots, uneven tone and exacerbating existing conditions like Melasma.

Protects Your Skin

Soaking up sunscreen before heading out onto a boat or beach may seem like common sense, but it’s actually one of the most vital steps you can take towards maintaining healthy skin. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, every individual should wear sunscreen every day – even on days they aren’t planning on spending any time outdoors or heading towards the beach!

Sunscreen provides protection from two harmful types of ultraviolet (UV) radiation: UVB and UVA rays. While UVB rays cause sunburns, UVA rays have been shown to contribute to premature aging and could increase your risk for skin cancer.

Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen to protect yourself from UVA and UVB rays, and apply generously and frequently, especially after swimming or sweating. Reapply after swimming or sweating. Although sunscreen can provide some protection, other precautions such as wearing a hat and seeking shade should also be taken when possible to avoid sun damage.

Prevents Premature Aging

Long days spent lazing around in the sun may have provided you with an inviting tan, but these same rays also age your skin. Over time, UV radiation breaks down collagen, elastin and skin cells; leading to fine to medium wrinkles, sagging skin and worn appearance as well as dark spots, uneven tone and precancerous lesions.

Sunscreens help reduce or even reverse premature aging by blocking ultraviolet radiation before it reaches your cells and doing damage, thus protecting from further premature aging effects of UV radiation. Selecting one containing physical blockers such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide as well as chemical blockers like Avobenzone, Octisalate or Oxybenzone can significantly lessen UV’s negative aging effects on your skin.

As part of an effective skin care routine, it’s essential to use at least a broad spectrum sunscreen with at least an SPF 30 daily on all areas of skin. Incorporating gentle serums for your face and drinking plenty of water along with getting adequate rest.

Prevents Sun Spots

Sunscreen is essential to healthy skin. It protects against sunburn as well as premature aging, skin cancer and dark spots – conditions which could otherwise occur from prolonged sun exposure. When choosing a broad spectrum sunscreen with an SPF 30 or higher and UVA/UVB protection capabilities – apply an ample dollop on face, neck and ears prior to spending any time outdoors and reapply every two hours when outdoors; wearing protective clothing, seeking shade when possible and wearing a hat are also helpful in this endeavor.

Years of unprotected sun exposure can leave an unsightly mark on our skin: sun-damage. It often manifests itself in fine to medium wrinkles, blotches, uneven skin tone and brown spots known as sunspots – which do not lead to cancer but can be unsightly nonetheless. Utilizing sunscreen on a regular basis may prevent new spots from developing; additionally some products have even proven effective at diminishing existing spots.

Prevents Dry Skin

Sunscreen products provide essential defense against dry skin by shielding it from UVA and UVB rays from the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays. Utilizing moisturizing lotion with broad spectrum SPF protection should form part of a comprehensive skin care routine for healthy living.

For added dryness relief, look for sunscreens tailored specifically to your skin type, containing ingredients like ceramides, panthenol, niacinamide and propanediol. Hyaluronic acid serums will also be helpful in locking in moisture.

Remember to apply sunscreen generously and reapply as directed on its label, especially after sweating, swimming or wiping your face. Reapplying every two hours will ensure an effective level of protection throughout the day. Rinsing thoroughly afterward will remove greasy sunscreen residue as well as dirt, chlorine and salt particles from building up on your skin while outside, which could potentially clog your pores or cause other undesirable side effects of sunscreen use.
