Dental science, also called dental medicine and dental surgery, is a field of medicine which includes the study, identification, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and prevention of oral disorders, diseases, and chronic conditions. Upon completion of these requirements, the candidates can sit for the State Dental Examination.

Some of these courses are conducted on campus in collaboration with local colleges or hospitals. During the final year of dental school, students also get to participate in the Masters program in Periodontics to enhance their specialization. Those who successfully complete the course are awarded a Master’s Dental Residence, which is designed to support the students towards a career in endodontics, periodontics, dental surgery, oral medicine, nutrition, public health, or forensic dentistry.

Apart from the coursework, students get to experience hands-on training by joining the dental surgery clinical programme. The programme is conducted under the supervision of a dentist experienced in the field and helps students gain practical skills in periodontics, oral surgery, dentistry, periodontics, bridges, root canal therapy, craniofacial surgery and pediatric dentistry. In order to become a dentist, a student needs to pass the Dental Admission Test (DAT) and then clear the pre-determined number of points to obtain the degree of DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery).
